About Your Muse

I am Theresa (a.k.a. Tess, or TQ), Certified Professional Coach (CPC), and Professional Muse.  After years of soul-searching (who am I?  what are my gifts?  why on earth am I here on earth?), I was still at a loss re my real raison d’etre. Marriage and motherhood – woman’s most obvious and ubiquitous default program – didn’t feel like the proper path.  (Oprah understands this.)  No, I felt a desire to focus on the global family rather than the nuclear family. Living in New York City at the time of the 9/11 tragedies sparked a strong desire to make a grander contribution, to make a positive impact, to find a way to somehow “become part of the solution.”  I’ve since discovered my passion and my mission:  to raise the consciousness of the planet, and nurture our potential for peace and prosperity, one person at a time.  Life coaching allows me to do this, to help unearth each individual’s inner vision, values, truth, purpose, wisdom and greatness, freeing them to offer their very best to family, friends, work, and the world.

I acquired my coaching certification, including an intensive in Energy Leadership training, through iPEC, the Institute of Professional Excellence in Coaching, one of a handful of International Coach Federation's Accredited Coach Training Programs.  After trying on several corporate and freelance careers, I discovered that the three things I was especially good at - acting, writing, and life / creative coaching - were also good for me.  Eureka!  Could it be possible?  Could I actually do well by doing good, for myself as well as for others?  Yes!  But how to put these three disparate professions all together into a cohesive career which serves the greater good … ?

(I have been writing and acting professionally since the late 1980's.  Both demand a deep understanding of human nature, of our thoughts, emotions, dreams, hopes, fears, motivations, relationships, circumstances, choices, actions and reactions.  Both have provided me with invaluable insight, understanding, empathy and experience for the life coaching work I do today.  I also write coaching-based seminars, as well as original creative works and copy for businesses.  And I continue to act, for love of the art form and the creative process.)

So it is now my challenge to design and practice a unique career which 1. marries my myriad passions while 2. utilizing my natural talents and training into 3. a service that makes a positive impact on people and the world.

And it would be my honor, as well as my pleasure, to help you do the same.

More About Your Muse

The Early Years
After graduating early from Boston University’s School of Public Communication with a BS in Communications, concentration in Marketing/Advertising, and a minor in French, I studied several semesters abroad at Paris IV (Sorbonne).  My post-college professional career began with a brief stint in marketing/sales at Christian Dior-New York before moving to Club Med Sales, Inc.-North America, where I worked in the marketing/advertising and creative departments for over 11 years.  In my last position there as Creative Director and Copywriter, I helped shape both the face and voice of the then-famous vacation resort company, introducing ethnic and age diversity, and a more defined market segmentation, to Club Med’s promotional materials for the United States and Canada.

The Creative Period

I then spent several years focusing on creative pursuits in the performing arts.  I wrote several screenplays, collaborated on scripts with directors and screenwriters, and “doctored” the works of others.  As an actress, I appeared in national tv commercials, and landed lead roles in a number of independent films.  Several were selected to appear in local and international film festivals such as The Avignon-New York Festival and CineWomen NY.  In 2000, I was awarded “Best Actress” by The Brooklyn Film Festival for the lead role of Hetti in the indie “Up & Flying”.

Hope From The Ashes

Living in New York City at the time of the 9/11 tragedies sparked a strong desire to make a grander contribution, to make a positive impact, to find a way to somehow “become part of the solution.”  I’ve since discovered my passion and my mission:  to raise the consciousness of and for the planet, and nurture our highest potential for peace and prosperity.  Life coaching allows me to do this one person at a time, to help unearth each individual’s inner vision, values, truth, purpose, wisdom and greatness, freeing them to offer their very best to family, others, work, and the planet.

A New Mission

I am very excited about my current creative and corporate projects, which fuse my vision and values with my talents and training, and allow me to bring the benefits of coaching to an even greater audience.  I seek to bring life and leadership empowerment coaching into businesses large and small, with the intention of giving all employees - not just executives and sales staff - invaluable tools to relieve stress and increase productivity, engagement, innovation and satisfaction at the office (and perhaps at home as well.)

Today and Beyond

These days, I seem to have artfully managed to do and have it all – life and creative coaching, writing, acting - as professional muse of A-Muse-In-Manhattan.  I continue to learn and hone my coaching skills through MasterMind sessions with other coaches, courses and seminars at myriad training organizations, as well as extensive reading and research.

I even find time periodically to sail the seven seas to exotic ports as Art Director/Stylist/Coordinator for Michel Verdure, one of the cruise industry’s premier photographers (www.verdurephoto.com).  Not to mention share the company of friends and family in one of the world’s greatest cities, where I can salsa and swing dance under the stars, bike ride along the Hudson, enjoy great theatre, international films, concerts and dance performances, and periodically volunteer for various causes through New York Cares and other organizations.
